More about the new HVS Image 2013.
By default the Morris Water Maze videos are saved in avi format at a 640 x 480 resolution using M-JPEG compression which is fully supported by all operating systems back to Microsoft Windows XP SP3 without any add-ins so that no update or extra software needs to be added to run the software (other than, of course the web cam drivers which are packaged with the software. HVS Image say the M-JPEG is very well suited to time series analysis such as water maze as frame data remains independent and so times series data is not distorted.  Of course it also natively allows random-access to any frame. The HVS Image 2013 installation comes with TeamViewer Software which allows Remote Support, Remote Access and Remote Administration where necessary.

HVS have also bundled the Notepad++ is a text and source code editor (using the Scintilla editor component) which is a really superb lightweight, robust editor that supports tabbed editing, which allows working with multiple open files. (SourceForge Community Choice Award for Best Developer Tool). This is a really great way to get to grips with your raw data if you want to.

Although its not expected that you will ever have to use them the package also includes the Depends Dependency Walker, System Explorer and Sysinternals Process Explorer in case you every break your system (typically, HVS Image say, by installing resource hogging software like messaging or unsuitable antivirus that hogs resources while your system is trying to track experiments).
