“I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain!”

The original VP112 trackers generated X,Y tracking data at a rate of 50 or 60 samples per second (50hz or 60Hz). It was many years before computers could keep up and many users had years of legacy files so the standards for the .HVS files incorporated a reduced data rate of 10 samples a second. This standard has been carried forward from the VP110 on to the HVS Image 2013

Starting with the HVS Image 2014 we've made the decision that it is time to move forwards and from this stage onward now files from 2014 onwards will be asynchronous collecting data as fast as the computer/camera system can manage. This opens up all sorts of new possibilities for analysis some of which some lead users and collaborators will already be familiar with.

Support for legacy files will be continued by out "Deuterium" system (2013.2) - a development of the HVS Image 2013 "Hydrogen" (2013.1) which is provided to all users of future systems (2014 and beyond) for backwards compatibility where needed.
